Description: This is a recipe from my childhood. My mother used to cook this Italian goulash for us often. Here is the recipe I got from her.

Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp 50 g olive oil
  • 5 large 530 g onions (chopped)
  • 4 cloves 20 g garlic
  • 800 g beef goulash
  • 1000 g pork goulash
  • 2 large 550 g red bell peppers (sliced into strips)
  • 2 tbsp 50 g salt
  • 4 tbsp 65 g flour
  • 400 g tomato paste
  • 800 ml water
  • 1000 g sieved tomatoes
  • 500 g mushrooms
  • 1 tsp 3 g black pepper
  • 2 tsp 5 g paprika (sweet)
  • 2 tsp 5 g paprika (hot)
  • 0.5 tsp 0.5 g marjoram

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and garlic into small cubes.
  2. Add oil to the pot.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic.
  4. Brown the meat: Add meat and salt, and sear it. Brown the meat on all sides.
  5. Now add the flour.
  6. Next, add the tomato paste.
  7. Then deglaze with the water.
  8. Now add the sieved tomatoes and the bell peppers.
  9. Bring to a boil: Bring everything to a boil, then add the mushrooms.
  10. Add spices: Now add the spices (pepper, paprika powder, and marjoram).
  11. Let it simmer for another 15 minutes.
  12. Serve: Serve the goulash best with Italian linguine, e.g., size 14.
